Surprisingly, I have taken a turn from “GO, MONSTERS OF MEN!11@” to “I hope Diana Wynne Jones wins, because she should have DECADES ago”.

It runs beside stone walls. It waits in doorways. When the sun goes down it leaks out of these places like a spreading stain.
There is nothing you can do about darkness when you are out on a sodden moor in February without a torch. It comes, and you cannot stop it, and it engulfs you like water.
